Amazing Ways offers our guests tailor-made tours throughout South Africa. We love to show our guests the beautiful spots this country has to offer and after fifteen years of living in Cape Town and running our own guest house (Nine Flowers Guest House), we have gained a lot of experience. It was through our guest house that the first enquiries were made to help plan tours using our local knowledge and experience. However, as we are growing and not only booking our accommodation at Nine Flowers Guest House but have many different partners all over South Africa as well as appealing to a wider audience and not only a German-speaking market we decided to rebrand ourselves as Amazing Ways.
We have visited; toured and eaten at many of the wonderful places we recommend ourselves and so know the best restaurants in the smallest towns, the most authentic South African tours and the most beautiful Guest Houses. We have long-term business relationships with most of our partners.
We create each tour to our Guest’s specific wishes, whether it be a tour in a rental car along the Garden Route, a special hiking trip or a tour with a private guide – we are happy to explore the different possibilities so that our Guests experience this country and the must-sees, off the beaten track. We can book the whole trip, so that you, the guest won’t have the hassle of finding accommodation, renting a car or finding special tours from different operators. And with us as the operator being local, we are able to react within a short period of time in case of unexpected events.

Marrin Schaffner
I’m German and I just love travelling. That’s why I studied tourism in Germany and I’ve worked around the world in different companies like tour operators and event companies. I finally ended up in beautiful South Africa starting a guest house followed by our small and individual tour operator. Creating tailormade itineraries for clients in Africa is a very enjoyable task.
I’ve been living in Cape Town now for 15 years and had the pleasure of experience lots of Safaris. But Botswana with its wildlife and nature stands out for me. There is no mass tourism, it’s very remote and it’s such a safe country. I also do love the ocean and my just recent visit to Lekker Water Beach Lodge with its excellent location directly on the beach in a nature reserve tops everything. Still on my bucket list is the famous luxury Rovos Rail and I hope I’ll be able to enjoy that unforgettable train ride in the near future.
Matthias Schaffner
I’m born in Basle Switzerland.
From the age of 16, I loved to travel, but it was never my plan to leave Switzerland. However, I realised that my plan was different from what was planned for me.
At the age of 32, I got the opportunity to immigrate to South Africa. With my wife Marrin, we founded Nine Flowers Guest House in the heart of Cape Town as well as the Tour Operating business to help you plan your best tours when travelling in Africa.
I’m the co-owner of Amazing Ways Africa. I enjoy creating and arranging the right journey for our Guests. I value excellence and putting the right itinerary together so that we can create a great, unforgettable experience for our guests gives me great satisfaction.
What I especially like about travelling in South Africa and the rest of Africa is the beauty of nature, the warm and welcoming people and to discover new entrepreneurs who live their dream and create new experiences for their guests.
‘For me, the best place to be in summer is drinking a Sundowner on the veranda at Fraai Uitzicht in Robertson. You can’t beat that.’
